Game On

A Poem by John O'Malley
Vol.97, Issue 386

Back home meet the siblings

Bring home some programmes

Register an away win in Kingsholm

Never harsher weather

Woke to snow in Cheltenham

Trees full of celebration

I remain out and about

For an hour or less

Only too aware around here

Or in Rathbane close by

Young teenager killed

To where I send on poems

This tit for tat murder

Unheard of when we were

Growing up kicking football

We knew it as the Bombing

Field –I am aware of knacker

Drinking and a sense of fear

Dressed as I am in shorts

Mid winter out of place

Glad not to be searching

Trying hard not

To be imagining

A body in the undergrowth
